Idaho life insurance exam content outline
Last updated
The Idaho Life Producer exam (InsID-Life0001) follows Pearson VUE's Idaho content outline, effective July 31, 2025. The same outline is reprinted in the Idaho candidate handbook, and the Department of Insurance posts a Life outline page of its own. [1][2][3]
How many questions are on the Idaho life insurance exam?
75 scored questions: 50 general and 25 on Idaho law. The general part adds 5 pretest questions and the Idaho part adds 6, so you will see 86 in all. Pretest questions do not count toward your score. [1]

General knowledge (50 questions)
The four general sections cover policy types, riders and provisions, the application and underwriting, and retirement and tax concepts. What Idaho's pass rate report shows
The Department of Insurance publishes a "Portion Pass Report (First Time Only)." The newest year posted is 2021, before the current outline took effect. For the Life Producer exam in 2021: [4]
| Portion | Exams | Passed | Pass rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| General Knowledge | 964 | 572 | 59.34% |
| Idaho Specific | 963 | 545 | 56.59% |
In 2021, first-time candidates passed the Idaho portion at a slightly lower rate than the general portion. Since a failed portion is retaken on its own, the Idaho third deserves real study time. [2][4]
