Idaho life insurance law practice questions
Last updated
The Idaho Life Producer exam has 10 questions on "Idaho statutes, rules, and regulations pertinent to life insurance only." That section covers replacement, annuity suitability, life settlements, policy provisions and group life. [1] Our Idaho life flashcards cover replacement, life settlements and the basic life policy provisions. This page covers the rest: the annuity best interest rules, annuity contract provisions, group life, claim payment and creditor protection.
Annuity best interest rules (Idaho Code 41-1940 to 41-1940E)
- Best interest: a producer recommending an annuity must act in the consumer's best interest under the circumstances known at the time, without putting the producer's or insurer's financial interest ahead of the consumer's. (41-1940(2)(b)) [2]
- Four obligations: care, disclosure, conflict of interest and documentation. (41-1940A(3)) [3]
- Training: a producer selling annuities must complete a one-time four-credit annuity training course. Anyone who gets a life line of authority on or after July 1, 2021, may not sell annuities until it is done. (41-1940C(2)) [4]
- Insurer responsible: the insurer is responsible for compliance with the act. (41-1940D) [5]

More group life rules
- Group life policies may only insure groups set out in the law, such as employee, labor union, debtor and public employee groups, with some exceptions for family and business owner policies. (41-2002) [14]
- A creditor group policy needs new entrants at the rate of at least 100 persons a year, or must reasonably expect 100 in the first year. (41-2005(3)) [11]
Study tips
- The annuity contract rules look like the life policy rules but use different numbers: one year to reinstate an annuity, not three.
- Memorize the dollar figures: $150,000 for debtor group life, $1,250 a month for annuity creditor protection.
- Know the four best interest obligations by name.
