A study order that follows the weights

Round 1: the four 15-question blocks

  1. Policy riders, provisions, options and exclusions. This is where most product rules live: grace period, reinstatement, incontestability, beneficiaries, nonforfeiture and dividend options, settlement options, riders. Much of it overlaps with the Massachusetts life law block, so studying them together saves time. [1]
  2. Massachusetts life law. The outline lists six groups: the Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Association Law, producer responsibilities, individual underwriting by the insurer, policy provisions, options and riders, annuities, and the Life Settlement Act. [1]
  3. Types of policies. Whole life, universal and variable products, term, annuities, joint and survivorship life. [1]
  4. Massachusetts law for all lines. Licensing, the Commissioner's powers, unfair and deceptive practices under chapter 176D, fraud, privacy and types of insurers. [1] If you plan to take the Accident and Health exam too, this block is on both exams, so it pays off twice. [1]

Round 2: the smaller blocks

  1. Application, underwriting and delivery (12). Signatures, warranties and representations, the premium receipt, replacement, privacy and credit report rules, risk classes, STOLI, and contract law. [1]
  2. Retirement and other concepts (8). Group life, qualified and nonqualified plans, needs analysis, Social Security, and tax treatment including MECs. [1]

Round 3: mixed practice

Take mixed questions under a clock and go back to the block where you miss the most.
